Connected Counselling

Hi, I’m Tal Silverstein, a Registered Psychotherapist and Counsellor with over 10 years of experience in counseling, support, and coaching.

My method is based on the idea that life obstacles do not block the path. They are the path.

Therefore, over the years, I have developed a holistic approach based on a Person-Centred approach I draw upon tools from Compassionate Communication, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Breath Work. Together, we will navigate the beautiful complexity of your journey and cultivate connections that last a lifetime.

Areas of Expertise

Individual counseling,

In my practice, I work with individuals from diverse backgrounds because, to me, the person is paramount, and I focus on the person and not just the problem.

I view resilience not merely as the ability to bounce back from challenges but as a profound journey of self-discovery and getting to know the true self.

Together, we explore and become acquainted with your needs, emotions, and values.  This journey is an opportunity for self-exploration, healing, and empowerment, where the focus is entirely on you and your path toward a more fulfilling and harmonious life.

Parenting

As a Mum, a counsellor and a Parenting Coach, I firmly believe that parenting is life's most significant role, filled with both rewards and challenges. My passion lies in fostering and enhancing the relationships between parents and their children, regardless of age. I advocate for proactive change, emphasizing that to see change, we must initiate it ourselves rather than expect it solely from our children.

My story

In my homeland, as a qualified Hydro-therapist and a swimming instructor, I always dreamed of having my small heated pool where children and adults struggling with water phobia or trauma could feel safe in the water environment and heal. Being a new immigrant in Australia, in 2002, I found myself with my husband and our young children, transforming my life and identity. I searched for connection and a sense of belonging and worked hard to feel safe and comfortable in my new home. However, I always remembered my dream, and in 2005, I established my business, "East Bentleigh Swim School." Hundreds of children and adults became part of my journey and enjoyed the private pool environment for nearly ten years. After providing hydrotherapy and water skills for many years, I no longer wanted to work in the water. However,  my dream and passion for supporting people kept being a big part of me. Therefore, I studied counselling and psychotherapy, a natural continuation of my love for support. I fulfilled my dream again and feel privileged to keep supporting my clients in their life journey through 'Connected Counselling.' Holding space when clients search for connection, a sense of belonging, and safety is an honor.

As a proud member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), I am truly a forever student who enjoys keeping up to date and developing my knowledge and toolbox for anything mental health. I am also a human rights activist and an animal lover. I maintain my well-being through yoga, running, singing, and writing.
